Bram Ven was born on the 26th of July 1996 in Amstelveen, The Netherlands.
After he tried several different hobbies (soccer, swimming, gymnastics and playing the piano), he excelled in some of those hobbies yet in some not so much, he applied at the NJMT (National Youth Musical Theatre, formerly known as SJMA) in Amsterdam in 2004. With great pleasure he took singing, acting and dancing classes. Soon Tapdance would follow. He found out he had a certain talent for musical when he got to the final auditions for “Ciske de Rat” and also when, after a long selection, he got to play one of the main parts, Edmund, in “Narnia de musical”, produced by the NJMT. More parts in national (youth-)productions such as Kruistocht in Spijkerbroek de Musical, Sjakoo!, Klokkenluider van de Notre Dame (The Hunchback of the Notre Dame) and Oorlogswinter de Musical would follow.
His ambition to be a professional musical artist was born. In 2014 he, successfully, auditioned for the pre-course Music Theatre at Fontys School of Fine and Performing Arts in Tilburg. This was a one year course where he was prepared for the bachelor degree in Music Theatre. A year later, after another audition process, he started a bachelor degree in Musical Theatre, also at Fontys. His passion for singing and theatre, which started at such a young age, could at this point actually become his professional future.
During his bachelor-studies he got classes from, among others: Harry Ruijl, Florian Boutonnier, Tim Van der Straeten, Roeland Vos and Marleen van der Loo. He followed classes in singing, acting, classical ballet, modern-jazz, showrepertoire and tapdance. He played in several academy performances such as Let me be your Star, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying and The Addams Family. He also did the Song&Dance ‘(R)evolution’ with choreographer Tim Van der Straeten and Vocal Coach Peggy Hegeman and he did a played concertante ‘De Jodenverraadsters’ with director Caroline Frerichs and vocal coach Jack Breikers.
Together with Marleen van der Loo, Bram made his own play, an emotional musical: Voordat ik ga (Before I go), finishing his study with a bang!
In his last academic year he acquired a great internship in the musical My Fair Lady. In 2017/2018 he played in the ensemble, which was well received by critics, of the national tour of this timeless classic musical from producers De Graaf & Cornelissen Entertainment.
As soon as he finished his bachelor degree he started the Masters in Musical Theatre, also at Fontys School of Fine and Performing Arts. He got classes from, among others: Edward Hoepelman, Katrien Verheijden, Marc Krone and Paul Dekker. He finished his Masters with his final exam “Blijf Lopen”. The judges rewarded this intense and moving piece with an 8,5.
Bram also starred as Dom Johannis in the renewed musical-version based on the famous book from writer Thea Beckman: Kruistocht in Spijkerbroek. In autumn 2019 he played the title role of the first dutch version of Tails of Hamelin.
