BIOGRAPHY

Bram Ven was born on the 26th of July 1996 in Amstelveen, The Netherlands.

After he tried several different hobbies (soccer, swimming, gymnastics and playing the piano), he applied at the NJMT (National Youth Musical Theatre, formerly known as SJMA) in Amsterdam in 2004. With great pleasure he took singing, acting and dancing classes, soon tapdance would follow. After getting to the final auditions for “Ciske de Rat de Musical”, Bram found out he had a talent for musical. This developed even more, when he got to play one of the main parts, Edmund, in “Narnia de musical”, produced by the NJMT. More parts in national (youth-)productions such as Kruistocht in Spijkerbroek de Musical, Sjakoo!, Klokkenluider van de Notre Dame (The Hunchback of the Notre Dame) and Oorlogswinter de Musical would follow.

His ambition to be a professional musical artist was born. In 2013 he, successfully, auditioned for the pre-course Musical theatre at Fontys School of Fine and Performing Arts in Tilburg. This one year study served as a preliminary education to the bachelor degree in Musical theatre. A year later, after another audition process, he started his bachelor degree in Musical Theatre at Fontys. At this point Bram knew that his passion for singing and theatre would become his professional future.

During his bachelor-studies he received classes from, among others: Harry Ruijl, Florian Boutonnier, Tim Van der Straeten, Roeland Vos and Marleen van der Loo. He followed classes in singing, acting, classical ballet, modern-jazz, showrepertoire and tapdance. He played in several academy performances such as The Addams Family. He sang and danced in the Song&Dance ‘(R)evolution’ choreographed by Tim Van der Straeten and with vocal coach Peggy Hegeman. He acted in play called ‘De Jodenverraadsters’ directed by Caroline Frerichs and with vocal coach Jack Breikers. He finished his studies, under the guidance of Marleen van der Loo, with his own play, an emotional musical: Voordat ik ga (Before I go).

Continuing his academic journey he started a Masters in Musical Theatre, also at Fontys. He received classes from, among others: Edward Hoepelman, Katrien Verheijden and Marc Krone. Simultaneously, Bram did the three-year course at the Meisner Toneelacademie in Den Bosch. He was trained by Paul Dekker in this acting-method founded by Sanford Meisner and William Esper. He finished his Masters with his final exam Blijf Lopen (Keep on Walking). The judges rewarded this intense and moving piece with an 8,5 out of 10.

In season ‘23-‘24 Bram is seen as on-stage Swing and Dance Captain in the new original Musical De Tocht
